The North Carolina CATCH (Comprehensive Assessment for Tracking Community Health) system was developed by faculty of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), under a contract funded by the North Carolina Division of Public Health. Funds for the development of NC-CATCH were also provided by the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust. NC-CATCH is a collaborative effort between UNCC and state and local public health agencies in the state. The NC-CATCH "County Profiles" presented here provide the public with easy assembly of a wide array of demographic and community health data, along with comparisons with peer counties and the state. In addition, the NC-CATCH "Indicator Fact Sheets" supply users with trends in indicators over time, as well as breakdowns by race and ethnicity for many health measures. While the reports were designed to assist with Community Health Assessment, they will also inform the citizens of North Carolina regarding public health trends occurring in their county, region, and throughout the state. These County Profiles are the first phase of the NC-CATCH system. A feature allowing user-defined data queries for approved state and local public health professionals is under development and is scheduled for roll out in 2009.

For questions or comments about NC-CATCH or the data that it contains, contact Paul Buescher of the State Center for Health Statistics at paul.buescher@ncmail.net or (919) 715-4478.
